DMG was approached by TENIX to construct a number of small models of their 35 Metre Search and Rescue Vessels being built for the Philippine Coast Guard. The vessels were being constructed at TENIX’s yard at Henderson, Western Australia alongside the four 56 Metre vessels already being built there.
A scale of 1:150 was chosen to make the models approximately the same size as the twenty-four 1:250 scale models of the 56 Metre already built for TENIX. The models would be built in a similar fashion and cast in Polyurethane Resin and presented in perspex display cases on polished timber bases.
Further to this order was the construction of a 1:50 scale model of the vessel, which would be kept by TENIX, (see the accompanying photos). More detailed plans were obtained from TENIX and a hull was built and moulded by Allan Pew of APS Models in Newcastle. The model was completed in May and delivered to the yard in WA.
Four of these vessels are being built and are ideally suited to the archipelagic waters of the Philippines, with combined twin screws and water-jet drive.
