56m SAR Vessel

Tenix Defence Systems 56M Search and Rescue Vessel

In 1999, DMG was approached by TENIX Defence Systems to build a number of models of a new 56 Meter Search and Rescue Vessel TENIX had commenced building for the Philippine Coast Guard.

The models were to incorporate a number of fine details, but were to be of small enough size to be placed in a small display case and be used as presentations to various dignitaries both here in Australia and in the Philippines, including the Office of the President of the Philippines and The Australian Minister of Trade.

After receiving all the relevant information, Allan Pew of APS Models, was commissioned to produce a hull and moulds, whilst DMG constructed the superstructure and other parts of the vessel. APS Models then cast all the components in Polyurethane Resin. Each model was built from approximately 12 pieces, which built the basic model then smaller details were built by hand, and added to the hull, mast and superstructure.

All 20 models were painted and marked to be identical and each was placed onto Jarrah timber bases (The native timber of Western Australia, where the real vessels were built), and then covered with a one-piece Perspex display case. Four more models were built and delivered at the end of 2001.
