CH-47D CHINOOK

Early in 2006 Trumpeter Models of China released some magnificent new model kits into the market. One of these was the 1:35th scale CH-47D CHINOOK Helicopter of the US Army. DMG wanted to construct this kit as a demo model to add to our collection of Australian Army aircraft.

There are several external differences between the US version and the six aircraft operated by the 5th Aviation Regiment in Townsville. Research was done into what was required and the basic model constructed. Extra aerials and fittings were scratch built and added to the model before painting including the mini-gun fitted into the right hand side door.

The model was finished off in Field Drab Green paint and the markings stencilled on. It was then placed onto a polished timber base with a suitably engraved plaque. A very nice kit and a great model to add to our collection.
