LPA test hull

LPA test hull

In recent years DMG has been commissioned to construct a number of hull models of current RAN units for testing by the Australian Aeronautical and Marine Research Laboratories (AMRL), a part of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO).

So far we have constructed 1:100 scale hulls for the FFG and ANZAC and 1:72 scale hulls for the COLLINS and HUON Class. Our most recent commission was for a 1:72 scale hull for the LPA (KANIMBLA and MANOORA). These hulls are complete with all underwater features such as SONAR Domes, Stabilisers, Bilge keels, Rudders and Screws. On most of these models the rudders are steerable and the screws rotate.

The LPA hull has been the largest of these produced so far measuring at just over 2.2 metres. All the hulls have been constructed from fibre-glass and all are fitted with blocks on the main deck for fitting to a test rig.
